her bigger-girl bike

   Jenna’s tricycle wasn’t working for her anymore. She’d mastered pedaling and steering, but the plastic wheels sometimes just spun on the side walk. It was probably about 2 weeks after Christmas that she mention (and we agreed) that she needed a bigger bike. I was looking on Craigslist for a few weeks with no luck. She kept mentioning it, so we weren’t off the hook. Grandma came through for us- conveniently having a bike that belonged to an older cousin years ago hanging out in her back yard. It shows some wear from the heat and sun, but we brought it home from Phoenix on our most recent trip anyways. Dave applied some oil to the chain, some air to the tires, adjusted the seat and the training wheels and off she went!
   Dave didn’t get pictures of her inaugural ride, but today we practiced turns (the kind that you don’t get off of your bike for). She rode back and forth on our front paths for a solid hour. She was finally able to keep up with the neighbor kids on their big-kid bikes and she was so happy. Way to go big girl!
