the love of friday

seriously- the start of the weekend? what could be better?
last night we were able to take jenna to the ua basketball game. it was a preseason game, and we won, but it was too much work chasing this little miss around. of course she wanted to walk- everywhere. she wanted to crawl up the yucky cement steps that are everywhere. not for more than a single minute of play were david and i both able to watch the game. bummer. but boy, was she popular! i think she made at least three loops around mckale center, waving and clapping and working the crowd. the grandparents in attendance, of course, got a kick out of her. halfway through the second half she gave up and could not be soothed- it was 9 pm at that point. we bundled her up and bolted across campus to our free 'members-only' parking lot at the institute*, where we put her jammies on and drove home where we all got a good nights sleep.

this afternoon we are headed to phoenix for time out for couples. i am more excited than david, but he has promised to be a good sport, as long as i feed him before and pack snacks. jenna is getting to hang out at her grandmommies with her aunties tonight, who better be excited to have her :).

*the institute was my home for 3 years, 2002-2005. i seriously spent every free second during the day that i didn't have class- and sometimes that i did have class- hanging out there. it is super different since i was last there in the summer of '06. they have done all sorts of renovations, and it seemed like an entirely new place. it was neat to see, but also bittersweet to think that its not the same place.

It was so good to click on your blog and see my beloved "A". I miss my 'Cats and the 'Tute, too. If you thought it's changed in the last few years, it's been 15+ years since I've been there. Great, now I feel old.

Ahhh, the Institute! I can't believe it's different. I sometimes forget that things change, even when I'm not a part of them. In my head, the Institute is full of slackers like us, the kids in the awkward room, the couple making out in the library, the disgusting smell of grilled cheese and David Biggs inhaling an entire thing of ice cream because he can!
