it was originally thought by me, and others, that it was a nickel allergy associated with the snaps in some of her shirts. i was taping ALL of her snaps, and that seemed to help for awhile, but it never got all the way better. this is something that was really bothering me! one sunday in church it was itching her so bad, and was so flared up, that i had numerous people ask me about it. i began taping all of her shirts- tags, snaps, tagless stamps- in hopes of 'curing' it. well- that worked. it was all healed- for like, a day. i got lazy and put her to sleep without taping the tagless stamp in her pj's. and what do you know... the next morning she was all broken out again. it was a carter's sleeper, so that day i tried one of the other brand shirts with a tagless stamp, and nothing. so.........
i hope that i have figured out the mystery of what was freaking her skin out so much. but how will i ever know what it is in that tagless stamp that is reacting to her skin? weird.

Yikes - that looks ouchy! It might take some effort, but what about sewing on cloth covers over all your offending tags (and tagless stamps) - then you wouldn't have to reapply tape. (What tape works and is non-irritating anyway?)
medical tape sticks really smoothly and usually last through at least one washing
you should write carters and send them the picture and let them know how and when the rash appears. Maybe they can give you some insight about what is in the stamp and what to do about it. me/mom
Poor J! that is so not cool, her poor little back. Honestly all children's clothing should be all hypo-allergenic or something. Do like mom said and write carters, they are a quality brand too! Maybe you will need to start buying only organic clothing or something.... eekkk!
Sooo many people have had problems with Carter's sleepers. Ava had the exact same rash when she was younger and it was totally from Carter's. We should boycott... darn, if only their clothes weren't so dang cute! Glad she's better!!!!
Ben had the same problem and I just got rid of all the shirts with snaps and used hydrocortizone until it healed.
