wakeup call

i rolled over this morning, after hearing the garage close, to answer the phone. it was the sweet husband who had just kissed me good-bye saying, 'honey, it's snowing!'. 'really?' was my only response as i jumped from bed to check out the window. the early morning sun was being blocked by the low clouds, but sure enough- white.

you can see the snow on the sides of the path, and the flash caught some flurries on their way to the ground.(these pictures were taken early, before the sun had really come up. the trash can lids were stacked with 2" of snow, along with any cars on the street. all the roofs were white, and those in the shade still had some white around lunch time.)

it's a pretty cool thing for those of us that live in the mostly flat parts of tucson. it happened two years ago- about this time- but with MUCH more snow. it had blanketed everything on a sunday evening, and was still around on monday. i couldn't make it to my school on monday morning until just before lunch because of road closures, while most of tucson was able to call a 'snow day'. i tried to take a few pictures this morning in my slippers and pajama's ... enjoy a little taste of our tucson snow. maybe it will keep raining off and on, and we will get a repeat tonight- a girl can dream, right?

when jenna woke up, i opened her blinds to show her the white that had covered the roof just beyond her window. neither her, nor ella, knew what to make of the snow (other than 'white' and 'burrr'). i can't expect much more from desert kids. our mountains are BEAUTIFUL and i hope it last till this weekend, so that dave can take us on a drive and we can play.
