Thanksgiving 09

this year, we were lucky enough to celebrate THANKSGIVING with both sides of our family. on saturday, nov 21st, we had a super great pot luck dinner with the scotts. jenna had a great time with her cousins, and adam played nicely on the floor while we all ate. dave made a ham and i made a veggie casserole that got rave reviews {even a few of the non-veggie eating kids enjoyed it}. but my greatest success was the chocolate cream pie with real whipped cream topping. super delicious and disappeared the quickest! the bad news is:: #1- i took no pictures that day & #2- when i tried to make 2 more pies a few days later, they didn't turn out. :( i will try again though.

when dave got off work on wednesday (thanksgiving eve), we headed north to phoenix to spend the weekend with my family. jenna once again had a fabulous time playing
with her cousins. *have i ever mentioned how much i love seeing my kids enjoy their cousins?? cause, really, it's like the coolest thing!*
my mom is feeling much better from her back surgery, but my brother-in-law and david were the main dinner makers. of course, the food was all delicious, and we all ate too much.

adam is the littlest, and a hit with everyone. too bad he is SUCH a momma's boy that if i was in the room, i had to be holding him. in the picture above, he's hanging out with ben- both boys in their jammies.

the activities for the weekend included, getting my parents tree assembles and taking the kids to temple lights at the mesa temple.


as we parked and were walking up, we were beginning to worry because we didn't see any lights. we were encouraged by the huge crowd, but were really hoping that we didn't drive 40+ minutes across town to NOT get to see the temple all lite up and beautiful. just as we were approaching the stage on the side, we heard an announcement, and at that moment ALL the lights were turned on! it was neat to hear the *gasp* from the crowd and to see the excitement in our little ones eyes.



jenna and her cousin audrey got to ride in the double stroller. being two, they both kept asking to get out and walk. that did NOT happen, because they would have surely been lost in the mob of people and other strollers. i think they had a good time. they even listened to the presentation in the visitors center.










adam seemed to be as interested as a child of not-yet-7-months-old should have been. he was relatively agreeable as we walked the grounds, and slept BOTH ways in the car- woo hoo!
