wow. where did the time go? september means the end of summer for most people, but for us it’s still a thousand degrees out. okay, not a thousand, but easily 100, or close to it. blah! just this morning, we packed up and headed to the childrens museum in an effort to get outta the house. we drove the 25 minutes across town just to see that it was closed. boo. me, in my foolishness, suggested we do the zoo instead (we have memberships to both, and i didn’t really want to spend any money). jenna agreed and we headed to the zoo. i should have known as we unloaded the car that it was too hot to walk around the zoo. it took jenna all of 5 minutes before she informed me that she was ‘sweaty’. all i could say was, ‘me too kiddo’ and offered her her water. we saw the giraffes, elephants, polar bears, and a few others in about 15 minutes before i suggested we find some shade to have our picnic lunch. adam is continuing with his fruit snack diet, and even refused a piece of banana. he was far too entertained by the peacock roaming near us and climbing on the chairs. we couldn’t get back in the car until we rode the train that circles the lake in the nearby park. adam LOVED it! he’s been a few times with jenna, but this time he kept saying ‘choo choo’ and climbing up on my lap to look out the window. $2 well spent.
dave sold our third car a few weeks back. he’s been buying and selling car since before we were married and we have never had 3 cars for so long. he got a good (not great or stellar, but good) price for his altima, and we are excited to be down to having only one car that we are making payments on. he’s driving a buick now (that we paid cash for early in the summer), and in the few weeks that it has been his primary source of transportation, it’s been to the shop multiple times. it actually broke down on his way to work two weeks ago, and we had to rescue him and wait for the tow truck. good times. not really. pep boys thinks they fixed the problem, and we all hope so.
because of said car troubles, jenna missed her ballet class. she missed one class the week we were on vacation, and another this past friday because she could hardly walk straight with the head cold she was fighting. it’s only an eight week class; so far she’s been to two classes, missed the last three, and we are now gearing up for the recital. since she’s not even three yet, i’m not that concerned about her knowing the steps for her dance. should i be more concerned? i’m more annoyed about the cost of the class and dance shoes being wasted. hopefully her shoes will still fit for the spring session.
have you noticed the vacation ticker at the top of the blog? david and i are going to HAWAII! i’m very excited. we haven’t taken a ‘no kids’ trip in more than a year and a half (since before we had adam). it says that dave ‘won’ us the trip, but he wants me to clarify that. he didn’t win the trip, as in his name was not pulled out of a hat. he earned the trip. it was part of the incentive program that his department offered. those employees with the most sales for the fiscal year would be given a trip for 2 to hawaii. it was for the number one and number two slots and dave was in the top three all year long. as the fiscal year ended at the end of july, he thought that he was #2, but he actually was the NUMBER ONE in his department for the entire year! how cool is that?! i’ll take it! they are flying us to hawaii and putting us up in a fancy resort for 4 nights. we are to attend a few team building intuit activities, but other than that, the time is ours! they are paying for or hosting most of our meals and for a boating/snorkeling adventure one day. we found a cheaper room for another 2 nights, and they adjusted the plane ticket for us, so we will be gone for a week. my sister has accepted the challenge of both the kids, and we wish her nothing but luck (she might need it since she will be 7.5 months pregnant with her fourth) and fun. i simply cannot wait and can hardly believe it is just weeks away!
i think that’s all for now. sorry there are no pictures. i’ll make an effort this week to take some more… maybe. i should probably be using naptime to rest in an effort to overcome this head cold instead of blogging anyhow. today, adam was not participating in naptime (too much sleeping in the car this morning) so only one of us got that much needed rest. no good. …until next time… :)

I thought you died. I'm glad you did not. Also, I would like to stow away in your suitcase as you fly out. You won't even notice me, promise. Thanks, Dave, for earning this trip for the 3 of us. Thoughtful.
I'm sad that Leah got to you with that idea first. Secondly, I'm glad you survived the day/week. Sometimes survival is all you need! Just think, two more weeks and then it will be stroller weather all day!
I better get a good souvenir. They'll be great - I'm not worried.
How about I pay the extra checked bag fee and you can stow me away too? Non-reving to Hawaii never works, so I have a fear we'll never get there.
