Jenna's 2014 Dance Recital

For first grade, we added one more activity besides music to our girls extra-curricular. With the help of another mom in the neighborhood, we found a great studio and arranged a carpool for our Monday afternoon classes. Jenna loved going, but it always made our Mondays hectic with rushing out the door as soon as she's home from school and then getting home and having to make time for homework. She did great in ballet and tap, and made strides in her skills since September. As the recital approached, so did LOTS of extra practice. It exhausted us all, but we prevailed. In the above picture she's being dropped off for her final dress rehearsal- with makeup! I think that and costumes were her favorite part of the entire year.

As it worked out, Grandma and Grandpa Scott returned home from their 2 year mission in Hawaii a few days before her recital. We all went out to dinner before and they were able to attend her recital too. That made it extra special to have them there! It was a great show, but way too long (and late- why didn't they start at 5 instead of 7??) for Megan, Adam and even their dad.

We are considering NOT doing a dance class this next year. With a new baby, it's just too tricky to have activities at multiple times during the week, especially with the homework load that Jenna AND Adam will have at the traditional school they attend. We might continue some of the gymnastics classes that's she's trying out this summer, but those just run on 6 week sessions, so we can pause at any time (or just not re-register and see if she lets me get away with it).
