Independence Day '12

 We were so glad that Southern Arizona was not on fire this summer and our Sierra Vista holiday spectacular was going to happen. We left Tucson just before 11am, and were stormed on most of the way to Sierra Vista. We got to the Cove about 20 minutes after it opened, just to find out it was a free day and they were only letting 450 people in. That was great for us, but the rest of the family was coming up from Tucson to join us and were still at least 40 minutes away- and our group was already getting the 400+ free tickets. Sadly, they didn't make it, but we still had fun. We all met up for dinner, and it rained for the next 3 hours. We decided not to head over to the soggy park, so we just hung out at Kim and Ken's house.

    Fireworks weren't scheduled til 8, and at 7 it had been raining for most of the afternoon. We decided to skip fireworks and head home. By the time we actually did load up, it was quarter til 8 and clear. We pulled into a parking lot not too far from the park where the fireworks were at, and crossed our fingers. Jenna was excited to see a show, but really wanted her cousins there too. Thankfully, the rain held off, but the cousins ended up in another lot that was closer. We were able to enjoy a wonderful show and it wasn't too loud or smokey.
